Hot take: texting first is not desperate
Making friends as an adult is weird. Here is why the person who sends the "we should hang out again" text is the main character.
You met someone cool at an event. You laughed, you swapped handles, you said “we should do this again”. Then nobody texted. Sound familiar?
The waiting game is a trap
Everyone is waiting for someone else to go first. Nobody wants to look too keen. So friendships that could have been great just quietly fade out.
Being the one who reaches out is not desperate. It is a green flag.
How to do it without overthinking
- Keep it specific: “Want to check out the next Z Club meetup together?”
- Send it within 48 hours, while the vibe is still fresh.
- If they do not reply, that is fine. Their loss, honestly.
So go on. Open that chat. Send the text. See you IRL.
That's the tea. ☕
